Understanding SPC flooring
The wood tone is the most visible decision. Plank dimensions, backing, transitions and installation details determine how the floor fits into the rest of the project.
The reviewed Atlas examples use a 1220 × 183 mm wood-grain plank. Lay out the direction in the room, including corridors and doorways, before deciding where the boards start and finish.
The catalogue lists a 4.5 mm plank and a separate example with 1.5 mm IXPE backing. Core, wear layer and backing are different parts of the specification; a headline thickness does not explain all three.
Five wood-grain codes appear in the 4.5 mm range. Compare the physical surface with the cabinetry, wall finish and lighting, rather than choosing from the small printed swatch alone.

From the look to the detail
Use these questions to turn a preferred look into a clearer specification.
Read the detailed guideThickness alone is not a test result. If acoustic performance matters, request evidence for the complete floor assembly, including the substrate and mounting conditions relevant to the project.
Use measured room areas and the installer’s layout allowance, then convert using the confirmed current pack coverage. The catalogue packing figures need clarification before they are used for an order.
Show the full build-up and finished height beside tiles, carpet, stairs and thresholds. Ask the installer to confirm substrate preparation, permitted underlay, movement gaps and transition profiles for the selected system.
