SPC flooring: plank, thickness & IXPE backing.
Compare the visible grain and the complete installed floor height together.
The key decision
The reviewed woodgrain sheet lists 1220 × 183 mm planks at 4.5 mm stated thickness. Another catalogue shows selected 4.5 mm planks with 1.5 mm IXPE backing. Confirm whether the quoted total includes the backing rather than adding the figures automatically.
Compare the choices
What changes from one option to another.
| Option | What is listed | How to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Woodgrain references | 4818, 4828, 4838, 4848, 4858 | Listed plank format 1220 × 183 mm; stated thickness 4.5 mm. |
| IXPE-backed examples | 1.5 mm backing is separately listed | Confirm the finished total and exact product build-up. |
| Finish families | Wood, solid, stone and carpet-look references | A visual family does not settle the wear layer or locking system. |
Approve the finish as a sample.
Compare the selected grain, colour and surface under the intended light. Keep the code with the sample so a visual preference remains identifiable.
Resolve the floor height.
Coordinate the exact total build-up with doors, stairs, skirtings and adjoining finishes. Agree substrate preparation and the selected product’s installation method.
Complete the product description.
Request the actual wear layer, locking system, plank configuration and installation information. The nominal thickness alone is not a complete floor specification.
Common selection questions
The details worth settling.
Is 4.5 mm plus 1.5 mm always a 6 mm product?
Do not assume it. Confirm whether the manufacturer’s stated total already includes the backing.
Can I order from the room image alone?
Use the image to choose a direction, then approve a physical sample and exact product code.
