Product knowledge · Wall panels & finishes
Wall finishes: the look, the material & the backing.
Stone, metal and fabric effects can come from very different products. Name the actual material before comparing the installation.
The key decision
Distinguish the exposed finish, substrate, module and fixing. A stone-look film, thin natural stone, PU relief and 3D textile wallcovering may share a visual direction while requiring different edges, joints and installation details.
Compare the choices
What changes from one option to another.
| Option | What is listed | How to compare |
|---|---|---|
| PU relief / foam ceramic | Different materials for dimensional surfaces | Confirm thickness, weight, backing and intended exposure. |
| Metal / metallic film | Solid sheet and surface effect are different | Specify the substrate and face process. |
| Natural stone / stone look | Appearance does not establish construction | Identify natural stone, ceramic, resin or film. |
| Textile wallcovering | A roll product with repeat and surface options | Compare roll width, pattern direction, seams and substrate preparation. |
Use material families to organise the palette.
The material directory separates concrete, polyurethane, natural stone, foam ceramic, ceramic, clay, metal, wall panels, glass, resin and wood. Use those actual families as the starting point for sample requests.
Design the joints and edges.
A large-format wall, repeating relief and small decorative brick need different joint rhythms. Draw returns, external corners, sockets, trims and material transitions before approving the wall elevation.
Request the selected product’s installation information.
Confirm backing preparation, adhesive or mechanical fixing, weight and care for the exact material. A dramatic image should help select the effect while the product data determines the build-up.
Common selection questions
The details worth settling.
Are metallic films the same as metal sheets?
No. Identify both the face and substrate; their edge and fixing details can differ.
Can a textured wall image establish acoustic performance?
No. Acoustic performance belongs to a documented assembly and its test conditions.
