Sintered-stone slabs: pattern, format & fabrication.
The island photograph and the slab layout answer different questions.
The key decision
Choose the visual pattern, then identify the actual slab code, format, thickness and finish. The reviewed slab chapter lists 12 mm examples; it does not establish the construction or current format of every stone-look image.
Compare the choices
What changes from one option to another.
| Option | What is listed | How to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Sintered-stone reference | 12 mm examples in the reviewed slab chapter | Confirm the actual slab format and finish for the order. |
| Natural stone direction | Marble, limestone, travertine and other stone families | Identify the actual stone and slab before planning fabrication. |
| Pattern / vein composition | Room images demonstrate a design effect | Approve seam, edge, cutout and vein placement on a fabrication plan. |
Review pattern at more than one scale.
A close view helps compare colour and veining; a room view shows its overall effect. Use the physical slab or approved sample to settle acceptable variation.
Draw seams and cutouts.
Coordinate sink and hob positions, edge treatment, corners and support with the fabricator. Confirm the actual equipment drawing before approving a cutout.
Keep the material identity clear.
A marble-look ceramic or sintered slab is not natural marble. The natural-stone material directory and the sintered-slab chapter belong to different construction descriptions.
Common selection questions
The details worth settling.
Does a marble look mean natural marble?
No. The appearance and actual material must be stated separately.
Can a kitchen render determine vein matching?
Use it for design intent, then approve the actual slab layout and fabrication drawing.
